The Grande Côte project team in Senegal, West Africa recently achieved another safety milestone, reaching 4 million man-hours Lost Time Incident (LTI) free. One of KAE team members continued their contribution towards this fantastic achievement, reaching 2 million man-hours LTI free.

Achievements

Kekendo Africa Engineer’s is providing welders, procurement, and construction supervisors services, including weld and install a system of HDPE pipe work consisting of 630mm/450mm/280mm. A 630mm HDPE mainline needs to be installed along the bore road approximately 10k’s in length, running adjacent to the dredge mine path. With 11 bore pumps located within the bore field, 280mm HDPE pipe sub mains are being installed and used for the transfer of water between each bore and into the 630mm mainline. At this stage, the system will become one and can transfer water from any bore location to any point along the mainline pipe route. From the mainline at various points, 450mm HDPE lateral take off pipelines will be installed approximately 1k’ apart to then transfer water to the dredge as it makes it way along the mine path ensemble Upgrade Water Treatment plant, and Sewage Treatment, 

At the completion of the construction phase in December 2013, One of KAE member has be offered employment by Grand Cote Operations as supervision of new camp construction 85 blocks, of a 300-persons village Accommodation which obviously included, ablution blocks, laundries and Underground Service Fire System, Drainage, HDPE Welding, ensemble Upgrade Water Treatment plant, and Sewage Treatment
